Afterburn is a one-of-a-kind sculpture created from a genuine 2018 McLaren Formula 1 V6 exhaust manifold.
The manifold is a fascinating piece of engineering, with its tightly curved tubing and intricate welds designed to withstand the extreme temperatures and demands of a Formula 1 engine. Normally hidden beneath the bodywork, it's a component that rarely gets the attention it deserves.
We've treated the manifold to a bespoke, multi-stage finish, combining rich metallic gold tones with carefully applied contrasting accents. The layered finish highlights the intricate curves and welds of the original component, giving it a dramatic appearance while retaining the character of the Formula 1 engineering beneath.
The manifold is mounted on a genuine transmission gear and bearing assembly from the same 2018 McLaren Formula 1 car. This not only adds another interesting piece of F1 engineering to the sculpture, but also allows the manifold to be rotated by hand, so it can be displayed at different angles to appreciate its complex shape from every side.
The entire assembly sits on a custom trophy-style base, detailing the origins and history of the components.
The result is Afterburn, a unique piece of Formula 1 engineering transformed into a striking display piece. Equally at home in a private automotive collection, office, or living space, it's a chance to appreciate the engineering of Formula 1 up close.
