A rare Bentley part brought back to life as a warm, working light.
The Bentley Valve Cover Lamp

Turning Parts into Light
I stripped, cleaned, and mounted the valve cover upon an oil pickup pipe so it could sit naturally as the main body of a lamp. Vintage Edison-style LED bulbs were added underneath, giving off a deep orange glow that shines through the fins and bolt holes. The brass cap stays front and center — a small detail that makes the whole piece. A crankshaft pulley as the base keeps the lamp sleek and stable.

Built to Show the Craft
This lamp isn’t about being flashy. It’s about showing off the design and materials that made old Bentley parts so good. Everything’s metal, hand-finished, and built to last.

Finishing the Form
The valve cover was fully cleaned and refinished, keeping the original casting lines and texture intact. The raised Bentley lettering was hand-highlighted to stand out against the metal surface, giving it that clean, factory-meets-custom look. Once assembled, the whole piece was sealed in a protective clear coat to lock in the raw metal finish and keep it looking sharp for years.

A Piece That Found Its Place
This lamp ended up as a desk piece, purchased by someone who doesn’t even consider themselves a car person — they just liked the design. That’s what makes builds like this worth it. The part’s story keeps going, not in a car or garage, but in a place where it’s seen and appreciated every day.
